Is this not why you are here? Lakers v. Celtics

Is this not why you are here? Lakers v. Celtics

"Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained? Is this not why you are here?"

Okay, I'm 24. That means that I never saw Cousy, Russell, Chamberlain, West, Baylor, etc. That means I never witnessed Cowens, Havlicek, Gail Goodrich, Norm Nixon, and The Jones brothers. This means that I was not around when Magic vs. Bird first started as Michigan State vs. Indiana State, and I was very small when Showtime met Gritty in the 80's. However, there's a thing called ESPN, ESPN Classic, and the internet. I can sit here and say that I've watched all of those games. I've heard all the legendary stories from my uncle and grandfather. I even heard how much my momma loved the Lakers (oh Lord...) and that I had a Magic jersey on when I was four. I feel that I need to preach the gospel to those that might not truly realize what we are about to experience in the next couple of weeks. The history that is behind this series. It's entirely possible that the series won't match the hype, but to be honest, I don't care. I might just enjoy watching all the old clips of the history. I need you to remember...

Beat LA! Beat LA! Beat LA!

**Today, I'd like to welcome Celia Kelly as a guest writer here on Ed The Sports Fan. A CSU-Bakersfield Alum, she is also a featured writer atwww.talkhoops.net and is a rabid fan of basketball. Oh yeah, she a Bulls fan...(crickets.) Anyway, thanks again everyone for commenting on the site and showing love. Stay posted for more posts and news on Ed The Sports Fan. Later. -Ed.**

I'm sure most of you have heard, but just in case you haven't, O.J. Mayo is currently being investigated for accepting something like $30,000 during his senior year of high school and freshman year of college (Ed's perspective on the potential greatness of
"The Juice".)

Early October, I took a trip to USC to attend their Midnight Madness, since my bum-ass school was not having one. Well needless to say, I had a great time. That was my first experience with O.J. I thought he played well, knocked down open shots, nothing spectacular, but obviously above average.

Beasley vs. Rose

Beasley vs. Rose

Be-Easy vs. D. Rose, Chicago has some decisions to make...

Wow. Didn't see that one coming.

You know, I've had a long couple of weeks and quite frankly, I was in need of some rest. That's what moving into a new place, starting a new job, doing community service, socializing on the weekends, and having a rambunctious, aggressive lady-friend who keeps you up at night will do to you. (oh, boy...) Needless to say, I was frustrated to find out that I had slept through two big moments this evening. First, Kevin Garnett being as aggressive and assertive in Game One vs. the Pistons as his Game Seven performance as a member of the Timberwolves vs. Sacramento back in 2004 (32 points, 21 rebounds, two assists, five blocks, and four steals.)

Second...well, that's the one I didn't see coming.

Bonds is villified, yet Clemens is still loved. We don't get it...

Article written by our eccentric political tyrant, yet volitale and painfully truthful featured writer, JKS aka Cephas. Feel free to check him out at www.getlikeme.wordpress.com

Well if you haven’t heard, good ol' Roger “The Rocket” Clemens has been accused of chewing horse steroid. More recently, this 7-TIME CY YOUNG WINNER has been accused of booty-dumping Mindy McCready when she was a 15 year old country singer (!) and playing 18 holes of “Sink the sausage” with Paulette Dean Daly, John Daly’s ex-wife. So this would just be really pimpish if Roger was not married to an admitted steroid user; yes, his wife. Well, Mrs. Clemens...by looking at this picture, it was more than just milk doing your body good, and if your body is still not good, you need to email me right away, because I got some special milk that will do your body real good... (hint hint; wink wink) (Ed's note..."Wowzers!")

The ETSF college football 2008-09 preseason All-Americans

The ETSF college football 2008-09 preseason All-Americans

Can "Mr. Know It All" be a Heisman Contender? Who Knows...

Per the commentary I've been receiving here on Ed The Sports Fan, I think I'm going to shine a bit of light on college football. The 2008-2009 collegiate football season could be the most wide open season of all-time. There are heavy favorites out of all the major BCS conferences, and there are major storylines all across the board. So guess what I'm going to do? For the first time, Ed The Sports Fan needs your help...help me pick the first-ever ETSF pre-season All-American team. Please send your choices ed@edthesportsfan.com, and I will compile the Fan's final team. Here's what I've got so far...

Round two: the King vs. the Big Ticket

Round two: the King vs. the Big Ticket

Article provided by Kenny Masenda, check him out at kennymasenda.blogspot.com.

The Boston Celtics versus The Cleveland Cavaliers.

Honestly, this matchup isn’t the giveaway that people are making it out to be. If LeBron James gets help from his supporting cast, then this thing is going to get very interesting. It could possibly take the complete seven, IF (HUGE if) he gets help.

However, I don’t see that happening, and I think we’ll end up seeing this thing get ugly around Game Five. LeBron is about to see a defense similar to what the Spurs did to him last year, and if anyone saw the Finals last year (trust, it was hard for me to watch, too; the shit was THAT BORING), then you saw how they pretty much rendered him useless.

Micah Owings = MVP?

Micah Owings = MVP?

I'm about to throw this by you, then launch this motherf....

Okay, this is obviously a bit bold, but I was reading an article recently after Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Micah Owings came in and hit a pinch-hit HR in the sixth inning in last night's game vs. the Astros. Here are his projected stats over a 162 game season.
