That Is Why Brett Favre is Brett Favre (Goosebump City)

I must admit, Brett Favre will never be a trending topic on Ed The Sports Fan.

Not because I don't like Brett Favre, I don't hate the man. I hate the way the media gushes over #4 like he's Moses coming to part the waters with his right arm. (By the way, I'm not totally saying that he couldn't actually do this.) But when someone is talked about everyday for about 3 years straight and is not making an impact on what we call this game of football, that can get a bit irritating to say the least.

Which is why yesterday's classic versus San Francisco all the more amazing.

I feel like in my 20+ years of fanhood I've seen a lot of crazy things in my life, and I only can remember a few times when I actually got goosebumps watching something as great as what #4 pulled off yesterday.

- Pittsburgh vs. Atlanta, 1991 NLCS: Watching Atlanta's Sid Bream round 3rd base (the slowest person on the face of this Earth) as then Pirates left fielder Barry Bonds threw home and Bream barely sliding under the tag. Goosebump city.

- Chicago vs. Indiana, 1998 Eastern Conference Finals: With Reggie Miller, I've had tons of goosebump moments (pause) but the best one was in the ECF's against Jordan and the Bulls. With a sprained ankle, one pushoff of Jordan (where you think Jordan got it from? LOL) and a turnaround 3-pointer for the win....YES! Goosebump city.

- Texas vs. Oklahoma, 2001 Red River Shootout: Simply known as "The play that made Roy Williams known as Superman in the state of Oklahoma" as Texas was backed up into their own 3 yard line down 7-3. Chris Simms dropped back to pass as a cavalcade of Sooners defenders came on a blitz, all but one was picked up, my man Roy...as he leaps over the runningback and hits Simms, balls flutters and my main man Teddy Lehman catches it for the game-winning touchdown. (all Texas hate mail can be sent to ed@edthesportsfan.com)

Then there was yesterday...#4 drops back to pass, rolls right...sees nothing there, evades the oncoming defender and rolls back to the middle. Spots his 5th WR option Greg Lewis (just picked up as a free agent days before the season started) streaking across the back of the endzone fires a laserbeam to #17....oh, and Favre gets CRACKED at the end of the play. That's when the magic happens...

Big ups to Greg Lewis for making a phenomenal catch, and big ups to #4 for making me realize that sometimes all the BS is actually worth it.

WHAT WAS YOUR BEST MOMENT FROM THE WEEKEND? TEBOW GETTING KNOCKED SILLY? DETROIT WINNING ITS 1ST GAME? WHO DEY! WHO DEY! WHO DEY THINK GONNA BEAT THEM BENGALS? NOBODY! LET US KNOW!

Eventhough I'm not a fan of Favre at all, I will admit that was a crazy play. More importantly, props to Lewis for catching and landing his feet in ziploc tight coverage.

You know I love Favre, so seeing him pull this off was great in itself.

Best moments of the weekend for me included seeing Tebow get yullllllllllllllllled on, TCU shocking Clemson in Death Valley, Cincy prevailing, and Detroit getting their first win. Yessir, it was a great weekend.

But I will say this: Minnesota cannot put him in this position on a regular basis.

They can't have Favre throwing the ball 46 times, and expect to win. You have Peterson back there for a reason. It worked yesterday, but it can't become a habit. Hell, Favre looked dog-tired on that last possession yesterday, and this is only week three. What's gonna happen later down the line? I honestly think the Vikes have to win the North as soon as possible, so they can rest Favre, and keep him fresh for the playoffs.

I agree with Soul, Tim Tebow realizing that the he is NOT Superman.

The hit didn't look that hard, but he got his head knocked on the way down.

This weekend was crazy. The Lions are gonna win 3-4 games this season, bank on it.

I would have to say that rookie QBs are showing and proving, Mark Sanchez stand up.

These rooks are comin in ready to play. IT'S ONLY WEEK 3! It can only get better from here.

1st off, props to Mark Sanchez's mustache which led to a weekend of "Dirty Sanchez" jokes.

2nd, I gotta add my boy Boom Dizzle's dunk on AK47 to the goosebump city list. Still the single most memorable moment of my basketball-watching lifetime.

3rd, I seriously said "I'm going to get goosebumps if Favre pulls this off," when Minnesota got the ball back with 1:29 left and no TOs. Ridiculous clock management by a vet in the truest sense.

4th, LMAO at "With Reggie Miller, I've had tons of goosebump moments (pause)"

5th, Kenny couldn't be more right about them needing to lock up the Division ASAP. Favre is going to be 40 in a few weeks, he'll definitely need to be healthy, because it's weekends like this that show us the difference in having a Favre instead of a Tavaris Jackson.

As an Eagles fan, I cannot believe Greg Lewis made that catch.

The Bengals beating the Steelers by far!! I'll always have a soft spot for Cincinnati but I can't stand the obnoxious faithful fans of Pittsburgh. To silence them for one week makes me clap and sing....HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY!!! I'd also like to take a moment and pop my collar. I picked the Bengals to win, woop!!

As a Nittany Lion and Steeler fan, this weekend truly sucked (although the Detroit win was nice to see).

    Steeler fan silenced? Ha! Never.
